I was introduced to fishing when only 8 years old and like most anglers was hooked from that first experience. After becoming heavily involved in motorsport for many years I sought a new challenge and found it back fishing!

Leaving my Yorkshire roots I moved to Spain in the early Millennium and quickly became involved with the local fishing club in Puerto De Mazarron. Luigi Mateos, local surfcasting guru, took me under his wing and shared the valuable secrets of successful Mediterranean shore fishing. I have formed a close bond with my fellow Spanish fishermen and am now regarded as a “local”. Encouraged by Luigi I now compete with great success in club, regional and many open national competitions with several outright honours to my credit.

I write columns and articles about shore, freshwater and kayak fishing for the largest free English newspaper in Spain, The Round Town News, distributed on the Costa Calida and Costa Blanca and have just completed, together with Luigi Mateos, a beginners guide on the subject to be published in both English and Spanish. My DVD Mediterranean Shore Fishing "The Basics" is an invaluable guide to anyone taking up fishing from the shores of the Mediterranean who wants to learn the skills required to catch.
